Mistfall Hunter Characters

Last updated: August 12, 2026 — added a timeliness note on the August 14 Soul Harvest rollout and confirmed no class roster changes since the August 6/7 updates.

Quick answer: Mistfall Hunter has six playable classes, all available from launch — none is locked behind progression: Mercenary, Blackarrow, Shadowstrix, Sorcerer, Seer, and Withered Knight.

Characters status as of August 12, 2026. The six-class roster has not changed since launch — the August 6 client update and the August 7 server-side update touched class balance and bug fixes only (Blackarrow, Withered Knight, Mercenary, Sorcerer adjustments), not the character list itself. The next content milestone is Soul Harvest on August 14, 2026 (Season 1’s themed mode, adding the Soulgnawer elite and new seasonal content) — see Soul Harvest. The change-class flow and class-switch costs are unchanged.

You pick one at character creation and can switch later by talking to Dew at camp — the first switch is free, every switch after that costs 200 Gyldenblod (some guides report a level-scaled fee), and there is a cooldown between switches with a short free reversion window right after you swap. You can also unlock extra character slots by upgrading the camp’s Gyldenblod Pool. Full details on the change-class guide. New to the game? **

Mercenary** is the most forgiving first pick; Sorcerer is the class most often rated strongest; Shadowstrix is the most-cited choice for solo and PvP. See Best Class and the Tier List for the full source-by-source rankings.

Mistfall Hunter is a character-driven extraction ARPG. Players awaken as Gyldhunters — dead heroes given immortal flesh by Dew, the mysterious maiden who embodies a fragment of the Fate Goddess. Every hunter chooses one of six playable classes, and each class branches into two weapon stances that can be swapped mid-battle.

Around them sits a cast of story characters and camp residents who shape the world of Weavereach.

Playable ClassesPermalink to this section

Six classes are available at launch. Every class offers two weapon archetypes and a talent system, so the same class can play very differently depending on the weapons equipped.

MercenaryPermalink to this section

The Mercenary is a frontline fighter trained in real battles, built around physical power, durability, and steady execution. Its Hammer route answers enemy mistakes with heavy, charged impact, while the Sword and Shield route provides blocking, perfect parries, and measured close-range pressure. It is positioned as the most approachable class for newcomers.

BlackarrowPermalink to this section

The Blackarrow is a scout and marksman that dictates the pace of a fight from long range. The Archer path centers on fully drawn shots, piercing projectiles, and explosive arrow interactions; the Hunter path applies ailments, traps, and damage-over-time effects. Both paths rely on speed, precision, and controlling distance.

ShadowstrixPermalink to this section

The Shadowstrix is an assassin built around stealth and ambush. The Dagger route favors concealment, sudden burst, and frequent returns to Shadow Veil, while Dual Blades trade stealth for high attack frequency, aggressive pursuit, and damage bonuses built through consecutive hits.

SorcererPermalink to this section

The Sorcerer channels elemental and celestial power through a Staff. Elemental Magic blends Fire, Ice, and Thunder spells to trigger elemental reactions and lock enemies down; Stardust Magic focuses on high-impact celestial spells and large area control. Most of its spells must be chanted, so positioning and timing are everything.

SeerPermalink to this section

The Seer worships the Goddess of Life and draws on prayer, divine arts, and rune work. The Catalyst route (Reverent) serves as ranged support with healing, shields, and Rune Constructs; the Mace route (Blasphemer) trades support for close-range aggression fueled by Curse Mana and Zeal. Blasphemers reject their old oaths and turn forbidden runes into offensive power.

Withered KnightPermalink to this section

The Withered Knight is a melee duelist tied to the fallen Rose Knights of the Church, fighting through suffering, discipline, and remnants of holy power.

The Greatsword route is built on sweeping strikes, reach, and punishing mistakes; the Polearm & Shield archetype, added for Season 1, brings attack range plus team-support tools, including a ranged rescue for downed allies.

Which Class Should You Pick?Permalink to this section

Third-party guide sites covering the launch build are broadly in agreement about how the six classes shake out, though these are editorial opinions from outlets such as SkyCoach, KeenGamer, GameSpot, and Game Rant — not official Bellring ratings:

  • Mercenary is the most commonly recommended first class for beginners. It is the safest, most forgiving pick, with straightforward mechanics and reliable survivability.
  • Sorcerer is widely rated the strongest overall damage class at launch, pairing high ranged damage with area control.
  • Shadowstrix is frequently cited as the best solo PvP class, using mobility and stealth to control engagements.

Most of these lists reflect the July 30, 2026 launch balance patch, which several outlets report buffed Sorcerer, Mercenary, and Withered Knight while trimming some of Blackarrow, Shadowstrix, and Mace Seer’s strongest PvP tools — so the rankings are expected to shift with future patches.

Key Story CharactersPermalink to this section

DewPermalink to this section

Dew is the mysterious girl who revives fallen heroes as Gyldhunters. The official lore describes her as a fragment of the Fate Goddess, reborn as a maiden who roams the ruins of the mortal world granting the dead immortal flesh.

In the main quest line she acts as the player’s guide: she senses souls through the Web of Fate, harnesses the power of the Goddess Statue, and rallies hunters against the threats hidden in the fog. See What is Fate? and Guidance of Fate.

Dramm and DrífaPermalink to this section

Dramm is a long-waiting soul at camp who hopes to call his sister home with the Bell of Return (Siblings).

His sister Drífa, a melancholic little girl by the camp wagon, remembers more of Brandrgarde’s past than she lets on — including the truth that the monster called the Flesheater was their father, the scholar Otto, driven to ruin by the soul experiments (Reunion).

General HaraldPermalink to this section

General Harald is the fallen general of Brandrgarde, corrupted by the soul experiments and twisted by the power he once used to try to stop the Gyldenmist.

His corruption is tied to the region’s mining disaster, and the player eventually confronts him to free his imprisoned soul (Secrets, What is Fate?). He is one of the game’s named boss encounters — see the General Harald boss guide.

The Prayer of the MoonPermalink to this section

The Prayer of the Moon is a long-missing priestess of Brandrgarde, found imprisoned deep within Hallowgrove’s Divine Anchor. She is inextricably linked to the soul experiments, and hunters face her through the “False God” encounter Sálmar, the Cursed Moonwane, in Hallowgrove Chaos (Soul Experiment, Bosses).

PipPermalink to this section

Pip is an eccentric and cunning Woodling merchant who runs the camp’s supply operations. Pip hands out newcomer supplies in Pip’s Provision and aids Dew and the hunter during the main quests. The roadmap also names “Pip’s Top Assistant” as an in-match merchant offering fair deals on powerful tactical items.

Other Camp ResidentsPermalink to this section

  • Sigrid the Brewmaster — the camp’s brewer, who helps the hunter prepare for expeditions (Bell of Return).
  • Soekja the White Crow — a chatter at the docks who recovers a failed hunter’s equipment and later shares the tale of the Goddess of Fate (Soekja’s Solace, Woodlings and the Goddess).
  • Cazarro — a camp figure who shares his views on wealth and the nature of Gyldenblod (Path to Prosperity).
  • Twig — a curious Woodling of the Scavenger Squad.

The WoodlingsPermalink to this section

Woodlings are bell-shaped creatures woven into the extraction loop: defeating a Returner Woodling grants a Soul of Return, the item that lets a hunter ring the bell and escape the ruins (Soul of Return). A Smuggler Woodling offers a quicker escape with limited loot in some regions.

DeitiesPermalink to this section

  • The Fate Goddess — the goddess whose fragment survives as Dew; her statue stands in the camp.
  • Goddess Misty — the Goddess of Life worshipped by the Seers, source of healing and life spirits.
  • Velvar — a divine presence under whose silent gaze the Goddess Statue is upgraded (Guidance of Fate).

FAQPermalink to this section

How many classes are in Mistfall Hunter? Six at launch: Mercenary, Blackarrow, Shadowstrix, Sorcerer, Seer, and Withered Knight. Every class offers two weapon archetypes and a talent system, so the same class can play very differently.

What is the best class in Mistfall Hunter? There is no single best class. Mercenary is the most commonly recommended first pick for beginners, Sorcerer is widely rated the strongest overall damage class at launch, and Shadowstrix is the most-cited solo and PvP class. See Best Class for the source-by-source comparison.

What is the easiest class for beginners? Mercenary — the only Beginner Friendly class. It is the safest, most forgiving pick, with straightforward mechanics and reliable survivability.

Can you change your class in Mistfall Hunter? Yes. After the tutorial and the first quest, talk to Dew at camp and choose the class-change option. The first switch is free; every switch after that costs 200 Gyldenblod (with some guides reporting a level-scaled fee), and there is a cooldown between switches — though you get a short window to revert to your previous class for free. You keep your level and stored items, though class-specific weapons may be unusable until you switch back. See the change-class guide for the full mechanics, including how the Gyldenblod Pool unlocks up to 10 character slots at higher pool levels.

Does Mistfall Hunter have character creation? Yes — a detailed appearance editor covering skin, hair, face, tattoos, and body paint. You get three character slots at launch, rising toward five as you upgrade the Gyldenblood pool, and you can change your appearance (including gender) for free at the camp pool anytime before a run.
