Season 1 Soul Hunt

Last updated: August 6, 2026 — refreshed with the August 6 client update (Einherjar Mist Lord challenge, Dried Flower Knot drops) and the one-million Gyldhunters milestone rewards.

Quick answer: Season 1: Soul Hunt is Mistfall Hunter’s first official season, shipping with the global launch on July 29, 2026 (6:00 PM PT) / July 30 (01:00 UTC) on PC, PS5, and Xbox.

It introduces the Soul Harvest ritual event (fully live August 14, 2026), the free Slumbering Contract battle pass (unlocks after seven cumulative login days), the Path of Glory ranked system with seven tiers, and new content including the Withered Knight’s Polearm & Shield, Holy Weapons, and Brandrgarde Cataclysm.

Bellring Games plans a new season roughly every three months. On August 6, 2026, a client update opened the Einherjar Mist Lord challenge — a high-chance source of Holy Weapons and Holy Forging Materials — enabled Dried Flower Knot drops, and improved stability in response to community reports of stutter and lag.

Season 1 Soul Hunt is the first official season of Mistfall Hunter. Bellring Games named it in the Steam launch announcement (July 17, 2026) and the follow-up Developer Update #7, and it shipped together with the game’s global launch on July 29, 2026 (6:00 PM PT) / July 30, 2026 (01:00 UTC) on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.

It is the first step in the live-service cadence that the publisher’s launch press release describes as a new season roughly every three months.

Season StoryPermalink to this section

Season 1’s storyline is driven by the Fate Chart, which Developer Update #7 describes as the core narrative concept of the season. The entire seasonal main story unfolds around it: Dew calls on all Gyldhunters to fight side-by-side, track down wandering exiled souls, and contain the spread of soul corruption, while every hunter’s actions help repair the broken Web of Fate.

The season’s antagonists are the Varg clan. According to the official announcements, the clan has restarted its forbidden soul experiments, and countless creatures have been turned into rampaging Cocoon Puppets in a desperate bid to wield soul power, create a False God, and tear apart the Web of Fate.

The launch press release frames the same story in fewer words: working alongside Dew, hunters set out to thwart the Varg clan’s attempt to forge a false god, tracking the soul-warped creatures born of the clan’s experiments.

Soul HarvestPermalink to this section

Soul Harvest is the season-spanning gameplay that ties the Soul Hunt story together.

Developer Update #7 states that it rolls out progressively after the official launch, and the publisher’s press release dates its availability to August 14, 2026, describing it as an event that runs across every map and difficulty tier with new tasks, seasonal events, and exclusive grand rewards.

In matches where the Soul Harvest ritual is active, hunters encounter a new elite monster, the Soulgnawer (styled Soul-Gnawer in press materials): a shapeshifting witch with a slender build, a serpentine lower body, and human-like facial features.

She actively tries to disrupt the ritual, and she must be defeated before the ceremony can be completed. Because the ritual draws attention, the developers also warn hunters to watch for rival squads ambushing from a third party while the ceremony is underway.

Battle Pass: Slumbering ContractPermalink to this section

Season 1’s battle pass is called the Slumbering Contract, and it is completely free. Both the Steam announcements and the launch press release confirm that it unlocks after seven cumulative login days — the press release lists a “free 7-day login event” to unlock the Slumbering Contract at no cost.

Rewards are earned through seasonal activity rather than purchase, and the developers frame the pass as part of a cosmetic-only monetization model alongside the paid Fate Coins currency.

Path of Glory RankedPermalink to this section

At launch, the beta-era leaderboards (the Hunt, Gylden Hunt, and Demon Hunt rankings) were replaced by Path of Glory, a ranked system with seven major tiers from lowest to highest:

TierName
1Duskborn
2Mistwalker
3Dawnseeker
4Fateweaver
5Oracle
6Exalted
7Zenith

Key rules, as detailed in Developer Update #7 and launch coverage:

  • Path of Glory unlocks at character level 6; ranked play is opt-in per player before each match, and squad members choose independently. Enabling it does not change the matchmaking rules.
  • Rank points are awarded at match settlement for defeating rival Gyldhunters, successful extractions, defeating monsters, completing tasks, and acquiring assets. Each match has a per-match point cap, and only failed extractions deduct points.
  • Every full tier advance grants milestone rewards, and higher tiers unlock exclusive cosmetics.
  • Once a player reaches Fateweaver I, Normal difficulty matches no longer grant rank points, pushing them into higher-difficulty modes to keep climbing.
  • A server-wide points leaderboard ranks accounts by total accumulated points, automatically identifies each account’s most-played class as its main, and displays exact point totals for players who reach Zenith.

New Content at LaunchPermalink to this section

Season 1 launched with the following additions, per the July 17 launch announcement and Developer Update #7:

Sponsored
  • Withered Knight: Polearm & Shield — a new weapon archetype for the class, pairing a long spear with a kite shield. It adds six new skills, including a ranged ability that can rescue downed teammates from a distance, and supports both offensive and defensive talent routes.
  • Holy Weapons — a set of class-unique weapons, each bound to one of the world’s map bosses and its legend, carrying exclusive gameplay affixes that expand build options.
  • Brandrgarde: Cataclysm — a new, punishing difficulty tier for the fortress map, with its own missions and rewards.
  • Collection Pedestal — a camp feature for displaying extracted loot (listed as “Trophy Pillar” in the earlier roadmap).
  • Ladder & Tier rewards and additional cosmetics alongside the free battle pass.

Mid-Season ContentPermalink to this section

The official announcements describe an Ancestor Tree mechanic exclusive to Hallowgrove, scheduled for the middle of Season 1. The tree appears and refreshes on the map over time, creating a contested treasure location; hunters must choose between pursuing the treasure or extracting safely.

The August 5, 2026 roadmap update (see the roadmap) confirms the rest of Phase I.

Season Tasks unlock gradually and reward the S1 Pip’s Rare Pouch and the Nether Ferry skin, the Soul Harvest mode gains an exchange shop, a new Blackarrow weapon arrives as the Javelin (the archetype listed for Season 1 and deferred past launch), and a Golden Woodling monster joins the rotation.

Brandrgarde gets a Solo Mode, an Underlord Speed Challenge offers bonus rewards, and a Season 2 teaser (“Fires of the Past”) closes the roadmap.

August 6 Client Update: Einherjar Mist LordPermalink to this section

On August 6, 2026, Bellring Games deployed a Season 1 client update that had been announced in the “Second Wave of Launch Rewards” Steam post (August 1, 2026). The official Steam announcement confirmed three things shipped with it:

  • Dried Flower Knot drops were added. The Dried Flower Knot is a consumable used at Mist Lord altars to activate the Einherjar Mist Lord challenge — the Einherjar Mode version of the Mist Lord encounter, tied to the cipher-key system on the Ciphers page.
  • The Einherjar Mist Lord challenge opened. Defeating the Einherjar Mist Lord grants a higher chance of dropping Holy Weapons or Holy Forging Materials, giving hunters a repeatable endgame source for the Holy Weapon set introduced at launch.
  • Stability improvements. The update addressed recent community feedback about stuttering and latency, alongside a batch of reported issues.

Bellring said the detailed patch notes would be organized and shared separately, and that it was still investigating the reported stutter and latency issues when the update shipped. The full recorded patch history lives on the Mistfall Hunter Patch Notes page, and the challenge itself is covered in How to Beat Bosses.

On August 5, 2026, Bellring announced that more than 1,000,000 Gyldhunters had joined the world of Weavereach. To celebrate, every player was sent a login reward through in-game mail:

The reward is claimable by logging in before August 12, 2026, 12:00 UTC — players must log in during that window to receive it via mail.
